Product Update
Our newest cartridge and instrument is up and running. This marks a significant milestone: Redbud NA1 now processes eight samples, where our prototype processed just one. These new instruments are going through verification and validation now, with deliveries scheduled for early next year.
Verification & Validation: Ensuring Reliability and Performance
We are rigorously testing the new design for reliability. This includes instrument cycling and shipping tests to ensure robustness, pressure tests to ensure leak-free cartridges, and aging tests to ensure shelf stability. It also includes fluidic performance to ensure that Redbud NA1 achieves consistent elution volumes and results in a pure nucleic acid sample, free of undesirable salts or alcohols.
We also evaluate Redbud NA1 performance in specific assays. This includes measuring nucleic acid yield across a wide concentration range, in samples with PCR Cts from the ’teens to the mid-30s. We also check for cross-contamination, to make sure the eight samples on the cartridge are well-isolated from one another.
Applications and Workflows
So far, our performance meets or exceeds the performance of our last prototype, but with better reliability and eight times the throughput. This means we’re on track to install Redbud NA1 with our first customers early in 2024.
In the meantime, we continue to work with our Early Access Partners to establish model assays and collect application data using our platform. We’re looking at viruses and bacteria—both clinical samples and isolates—and we’re testing with PCR and NGS. We’ll begin sharing preliminary results in the coming weeks.
