Rabies virus extraction with Redbud NA1
Redbud NA1 streamlines extracting viral RNA from animal brain tissue for rabies testing. In an evaluation by a major U.S. public health rabies laboratory, Redbud NA1 combined with LN34 RT-qPCR demonstrated 100% agreement with DFA-positive samples and provided definitive results for DFA-inconclusive specimens across multiple host species. The compact, automated workflow reduced hands-on time, minimized pipetting, and inactivated rabies virus in 5 minutes, supporting a safer, more accessible transition to molecular testing.
Automating viral extraction for qPCR and sequencing
Redbud NA1 provides compact, automated nucleic acid extraction for virology labs, with a workflow designed for the bench or biosafety cabinet. In a public health laboratory evaluation, Redbud NA1 successfully extracted nucleic acid from SARS-CoV-2, measles, adenovirus, RSV-A, and norovirus, demonstrating linearity (R² > 0.99), sensitivity comparable to a large automated system, and high-quality RNA for whole-genome sequencing. The streamlined workflow also cut hands-on time by approximately half compared with a comparator system.
